Support Vulnerable Waste Pickers in Nairobi’s Informal Settlements with Essential Hygiene Items

Waste pickers in Nairobi’s informal settlements are at constant health risk as they aggregate plastics, which is how they earn their daily living.
Mr. Green is a plastic recycling company that works with over 2000 of these waste pickers who are at the core of our recycling business. These dedicated waste pickers supply us with plastic through our collection centers in exchange for money. The current Covid-19 crisis has placed them at high health risk due to their daily interaction with plastic waste, which most of the time is done without basic PPEs.

We are therefore seeking sponsorship in monetary or kind (hygiene items such as face masks, gloves, soap, sanitizers etc.) to ensure our pickers protect themselves adequately from Covid-19 as they go about their business.

We are also looking for companies to donate their post-production plastic waste to us which we will in turn convert into a stimulus package to our waste pickers. This will provide them with food baskets, which will ensure they are well cushioned from the economic shocks of Covid-19.
