In the past few weeks we have undertaken the following activities in helping communities around us in the fight against Corona:
1. Fight against hunger- Base donated food stuffs that will feed close to 20,000 community members to the Kwale County Government. Governor Mvurya received the donation on behalf of the communities. The food donation is to support the county’s emergency response plan to help vulnerable families affected by Covid-19.
Some of the food donated:
* 300 bags of Maize – 90-100Kgs.
* 150 bags of Beans – 90-100Kgs.
* 100 Jerricans of cooking oil.
* 200 bags of Rice – @25Kgs
* 336 Cartons of water
2. PPEs – Base donated the following PPE’s to Kwale County Government to be used by medical personnel in county hospitals and medical facilities and even police officers (the masks) at various road blocks to measure the body temperatures of truck drivers and cargo drivers. We donated:
* 15,000 3-ply surgical masks
* N95- 100pcs
* 15 -Full suit – Medical gowns
* 15 Thermo guns
3. Water Tanks – Water is life and essential in the fight against Corona. We have donated water tanks as follows:
* 40 Tanks (3,000Ltrs) planted in different areas in Kwale county
4. Mombasa county (Likoni)
* Donated 5,000 3-ply surgical masks
5. Sensitization – Together with Kenya Red Cross and other CSOs in Kwale, we undertook sensitization programmes across villages in Kwale – teaching basis hygiene/handwashing techniques, distribution of sanitizers and disinfecting homesteads and classrooms across the county.
6. Upcoming donations to the National Government in Nairobi as follows:
* 100 ventilators
* 2000 testing kits
* 100 Thermo guns.
